Validate Test Kit

Introduction

Test kits that vast majority of hobbyists use are not always accurate or precise, they can vary greatly between brands and even batches. For this reason, whenever a new kit is purchased or an unusual reading is obtained, the kit should be validated. This is especially important when a unusual reading is obtained, since attempting to correct something that is not actually an issue can cause some major problems.

There are two ways to validate a test kit:

  1. test a sample of water which has a known value (such as a reference solution, pure water or natural salt water)
  2. compare with at least one other test kit.
