in terms of phosphate precipitation, identical.
in terms of anionic legacy, better. the anion (glycolate hexahydrate) is mostly water and a little bit of carbohydrate, so you're actually doing a little bit of carbon dosing at the same time. though not enough to be a noticeable impact.
