Ommeh's Aqua One Mini Reef 90 - WIP

Post by ommeh »

Hi everyone,

Log time lurker first time poster!

It's been a long few months but I finally made the plunge into the world of salt water. My best friend has had them for years and I was always to scared to really make the jump. Been a long time freshwater guy with some massive cichlids but now I'm very much into the saltwater game!

So far I've cycled my tank and have started my collection of new and wonderful things!

Aqua One Mini Reef 90
- Stock Aqua One return pump (Next on the upgrade list)
- Coral Box D300 Skimmer
- Coral Box Mini 70X Reactor (Activated Carbon)
- Coral Box Wave Maker QP-5 x2
- EHeim Jager 150W Heater
- MarsAqua 165W LED Light
- Mars 150W Grow LED Light
- Bunnings LED Strip lights

Lifestock
- Clown Fish x2
- Fire Tail Goby x2
- Trochus Snail x2
- Tiger Sand Conch
- Yellow foot Hermits x4
- Red Line Cleaner Shrimp
- Dwarf Yellow Coral Banded Shrimp x2
- Green Bubble Tip Anemone
- Red Starfish

Coral
- Kenya Tree
- Palm Tree
- Hammers x2
- Torch x2
- Button
- Brain
- Violet Star Polyp
- Duncan
- Acan
- Zoa's
- Toadstool

Already planning on upgrading the return pump piping. I've extended the overflow pipe so it sits very much into the water. The noise was killing me. Running a Chaeto refugium right now. The grow lights went in today so hopefully they will start kicking! There's a heap tonne of pods growing now so that's a good sign. Added a bag of Phosban and Purigen to help keep the water in check. Will be looking to post more update photos as the tank develops!

Nice tank.Iv'e got the same just one thing in regards to the D300 skimmer did you have to increase the water level past the marker on the sump or is it a straight drop in and turn on..I got the Tunze 9004 and had to increase the water level in sump by 5cm past the marker so it can wet skim.

Yup, tank looks very good and those corals should fill it out nicely in a bit of time.
