Mike's 4 x 2 x 2 mixed reef tank

Post by MikeZed »

Introduction:
I've got a 4 x 2 x 2 currently, with a built in sump, but traded a new fish tank for agreeing to kitchen overhaul - the new tank will be built into the kitchen, with the sump being moved into the basement

System Objectives: A mixed reef tank with fish, SPS and LPS, but significantly more automated than currently, with a higher quality product for similar levels of maintenance.

System Type: Mixed Reef

Display System:

Strike up Date: Old tank - 6 years ago - new tank - by Christmas 2016

Display Tank: 1220 x 600 x 600 - 4 x 2 x 2 - Starfire custom built - 3 hole weir

Display Lighting: To be determined

Stand: Built into the kitchen

Hood: Built into the kitchen

Sump: To be determined - 2 x sumps based on old sump and spare

Refugium: To be determined - one of the sumps

Refugium Lighting: To be determined - probably old tank lights (LEDs)

Support systems:

System Water: ASW - Auto top up and monitor system to be added

Display Water circulation: 2 x Tunze turbelle 6095 pumps - Tunze 7095 controller to be added

Return Pump: To be determined - thinking a Royal Exclusiv 80W

Skimmer: To be determined - Likely to upgrade the current unit

Evaporation Top Up: Definitely - To be determined

Chemical Support: To be determined

Calcium Addition: To be determined - Likely calcium reactor

Alkilinity Addition:

Other Chemical Maintenance:To be determined

Current Water Chemistry: Pretty horrible - current SPS's hanging on by the skin of their teeth
Nitrates:
Phosphates:
Alkalinity:
Calcium:
Salinity / Specific Gravity:
Magnesuim:

Any suggestions for the To be determined elements above, or suggestions on setting the tank up all gratefully received
