Anyone removed a brick from a wall before?

Post by Matt1961 »

I am looking at removing a brick from the exterior wall of my house to run my chiller lines outside and ATO lines back in.

Does anyone know if i can remove a brick without the need for a lintel and how far from the corner of the building does it need to be?

A single brick will be fine, you might not even needs to remove the whole brick.

If you have any mates who are A/C installers they will have core drills suited to doing the holes for you and take away the hassle.

Hammer drill and go nuts haha

No need to remove the whole brick just get a bit wide enough for your desire or put a couple holes in

Thanks guys, will hack it out tomorrow
The reason i was going to remove the whole brick is i was going to make a wall plate up to cover the hole.
This plate will have 3 holes in it, 1x 32mm feedline from return pump to chiller, 1x 32mm return line from chiller to DT, 1x 10mm line for ATO top up water so i can put a 200l drum outside for RO

Will post pics on how it all goes

Unless your pump has a 32mm outlet you are doing it wrong, always match the pipe work to the pump outlet. 32mm sucks as the components are more exxy than 25/40

Sorry mate led you down the wrong path

The wall plate will have 32mm holes in it so I can pass 20mm hose through the plat using a gland nut to seal the hole?

Update for anyone interested,
Successfully removed the brick and have run temp ato lines and power for the night
Drilled a heap of 6mm holes al the way around the brick, gave it a tap andout it came

You can see an old brick which is dark in colour which i have placed back in where the old brick came out.
Eventually i will place my 200l rodi drum to the right of the tap beside the hot water system and plumb my rodi unit into the tap for easy filling.

Tomorrows job is to plumb up the chiller it will go where the 60l drum is currently sitting next to the dog kennel and i will build a cover over it to keep the weather out. Hopefully this will see my chiller work better nowits outside rather than under the DT
