Possible to breed any clowns in a 40cm cube?
Hey all i have recently bought a 40cm cube tank, it's up and running, going well and wondering if i could possibly breed clowns in there. I can raise the fry in a 3 foot tank. Would it be possible to breed any kind of clown in there? Background clown breeding info would be awesome.
cheers

Ocelaris will spawn in that. 3 ft to raise larvae is to big though.

Lol, is there anything clowns WON"T spawn in? I get the impression they are the rabbits of the ocean...
There's something fishy going on....

Not really, more pairs wont spawn than those that will, but I've seen pairs in REALLY small tanks, but only Percs and ocellaris. Frenatus, melanopus etc need bigger tanks.

For raising fry, you also need to have blacked out sides. It's why you'll often see mentioned a "BRT" (a Black Round Tub)
Go to Bunnings and by one of those great big black buckets with handles which is about 40cm across.
It's perfect for the job. Cheap too.
You can do better obviously, but it's a great learners tool.
Occy's are often said to be easier to raise than percs.
As for breeding pairs. You either get them or you don't. For best chances, get 2 at same time of similar size when they are tiny.
Also, NUTRITION! The more nutrition the female has when developing the eggs, the better your chance of success. So lots of variety in the food and plenty of the good things.

Corals is fine. Perfectly fine. More comfortable a clown feels the more it feels like getting jiggy.
Food is just a good variety of food. Please understand, I've done lots of reading on this, but haven't done yet. (I've even bought the equipment. Just never put into use!)
The food is typically a mixture of home-made stuff (your mooshed up scallops etc. Search around RTAW you'll find lots of good recipes). Spectrum pellets and the like also get a good mention.
What you are looking for is the eggs to have a nice orange colour. That's the yolk which the larvae feed on for the first day or so of their lives. No orange = no yolk.
