Hi guys...this is the first thread i have done on here before so please be patiant.
I was sent some cuttlefish eggs on thursay as a trail to see how they shipped.I was sent 3 eggs as they are easier to ship . Well my tank set up is the 2x2x2 Aquamedic chromis with 150watt MH skimmer power heads and a canister filter which i just put carbone in and for flow. All i keep is softie corals at the moment which is enough.
The cuttle eggs are being housed in a breed trap that floats in the tank with a PH pointing at it to get the flow . Here are a couple of picys, 1 of the eggs and 1 of the one that hatched
Thanks for looking Sarah xxxx[img] [/img]
keep us informed on how it goes. The cuttlefish at the sydney aquarium kept me staring at em for quite a while, just floating there looking right back at you changing their colors. Can we get a full tank shot?
looks like a cool little home for the buggers. i think your light might be a bit too bright for cuttles.? (i dont really know much about em, except wherever i saw em in an aquarium they were in a dimly lit place). but dont take my word for it, i never kept one in my life!
LOL...mullet...the light is fine for them...they have plenty of dark places to hide...i change the rock work around for them...once they are big enough to be let out of the breeder trap i will get full shots of the tank on how it looks now
so im guessing you will eat em once they grow to a healthy size? i know a perfect recipe! just joking. yeah, i looked at your link, and it said they dont mind metal halides.
I used to keep cuttlefish when I was at high school and then went on to study them as part of my degree. They are fantastic creatures with loads of personality.
What are you feeding the babies? Getting enough live food for them is going to be a challenge.
