Quick Update,

I have just switched out the 2 x 400W halides and 4 x T5 and gone back to my Giesemann Matrix II that I had sitting around to see if I can save some money on electricity. Some of the LPS were looking a bit sorry for them selves (I suspect par of 600 plus would do that). Now par levels around the 100-150 mark.

Globe selection is 2 x pure actinic / 2 x blue plus. Tried the Coral plus and purple plus but it washed out the tank IMO. I also have a small Tunze blue LED light running which runs from 10AM to 9PM.

Anyway here are some pics with the T5 and LED running.

Thanks for looking.

Hi,

Just a quick update, added a bit of SPS for a while. Seems to be going good and holding colour. I have changed a few things as per the below:

Added 3 L of siporax
T5 consist of 2 x pure actinic and 2 x blue plus
Skimmer Deltec MC500
Sand bed removed
Stopped Zeovit (only dose 1 drop on average of zebec at water changes)
KH between 6.5-7.5 DKH
MG around 1275 PPM
CA around 410-430 PPM
Salinity 35pct

50ML of zeovit carbon
50ML of Purigen
50ML of Phosguard (all the above run in a tunze filter)

I have been doing regular water changes of 40L-60L a week (60-90%). Red Sea salt plus RO plus double DI stage. Keeping it simple.

Plan going forward, add a GHL doser (should have never sold the other 2), maybe add a tunze 7000 controller (TBC). Will add battery back up to the tunze pumps as well.

Just some quick pics from my I Phone

Hi All,

It's been a while since my last update. There have been a few changes as you can see. the clowns have been moved to their new home (Red Sea Reefer Nano) and are all doing well.

Tank has done a full 360 and returned to SPS dominated tank. Lighting is still the Giesemann Matrix II ( 2 x ATI Blue Plus & 2 x ATI Coral Plus globes). Still running the Tunze Blue LED with the controller 7097.

Added a new GHL doser 2.1 and MP 10 QD (may add another one going forward). Anyway here are some quick pics of the tank today and thanks for looking.

Hi All,

Just a few quick pics of the tank today. Changed the lighting over to a 6 bulb (39W) ATI Powermodule:

And a quick pic of the clown fish nano tank that was started around Xmas time. Happy with the way this simple tank has turned out . Really liking the Hydra 26 on this tank.

Beautiful.
What are you dosing?

Love the clown tank, I should have done that rather than mixed reef.....

Hi Roy,

I'm dosing ALK and Calcium only. Run a small amount of rowaphos or phosguard for Po4 and do 10% water changes weekly.

I don't dose the clown tank at all. Just run a small amount of carbon and rowaphos or phosguard. Keeping it very simple. 20% water change on average every 2 weeks.

Cheers

Hi All,

So the journal must come to an end. The tank has been closed and is for sale on here.

Anyone after a great / original design Nano tank, this is the one.

Just an update. The tank will be started up again in the near future.

Will do things slightly different, but will likely run a fuge / skimmer for filtration. Lighting will be halides / t5 combo. Zero fish, and purely SPS.

Watch this space :)
