The purpose of this forum is to allow people to showcase their tanks, and allow other uses to ask questions on equipment, livestock, methodology etc.
Specifically for Diverse Tanks (Cubes, Squares, Triangular) (Fish Only with Live Rock, Predator Tanks, Temperate Tanks) (non-photosynthetic tanks, Marine Plant/Algae Tanks, Greenhouse Tanks)

I won the flashlight and glasses kit for 4th prize in the TOTY comp . The photos were taken by holding the light with my shoulder/neck and holding the glasses in front of the camera - a bit tricky hence the blurry badly composed shots Special filters (and the Nightsea range)are available for SLR cameras at Aquarium Solutions. Thanks Scott for sponsoring the TOTY comp
Well, almost liverockless. Most of the rock was dead limestone -collected dry locally and I only ever bought 2 very small pieces of LR to seed it. It only takes a couple of months for the corraline to grow over it.
That's awesome. How did you get the corraline to grow? Was it just good water and management, or did you have any additives?
One of the most interesting things about the fluorescence is noting how some similar corals fluores very differently eg I have 3 toadstools, 1 doesn't fluores at all, 1 shows bright green polyps and the other has glowing green skin but the polyps don't light up at all. It happens with SPS too, some shine brightly while others show nothing. It's a puzzle why corals fluores and even stranger that some do and some don't. I have a red echinopora that lights up a beautiful metallic red under the torch but dosen't come out very well in the photos, same for all the crimson red colouring of coraline and other algae (dead alga glows green- go figure)and also corals like xenia.

Yep, just keep water parameters right and it will come When I rearrange now, I sometimes need to add a new rock and it stands out bright white but only for a month or 2.
I've just returned from a trip to Bali to find I've lost almost all my acros. It seems my Margin coralfish died possibly due to coarser chunks in my DIY food mix(for want of any other explanation) and because it went behind the rocks, the tank-sitter didn't know it was missing. The rotting fish must have caused my 2 best stags to immediatly die ,followed one by one by the rest of the acros. I now have only one colony left(for now) and several frags from the other colonies but I don't hold too much hope . Some corals seem to be totally unaffected(morphs, zoas, trachys, oolaphyllia) some were upset for a while(sarcophytons, xenia) and some suffered some bleaching so I'll be keeping a close eye on(ancora, fungia). I went through the usual "I'm over this" period but now I'm looking to use this situation to asses what I really want from my tank and think where I will go from here.
Thats a real shame mate, it must have been heartbreaking to come home and find that, I can only imagine.
Looking forward though I am sure it wont be long before you are up and running again, and why do I have the feeling it will be something just a little out of the ordinary?
And the birds nets <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/a7Dd7Rd3yjVweogVJEz46g?authkey=Gv1sRgCPOdj5WJyNmhSA&feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_8Bf8H4yyQ7c/Sb45YaIWUVI/AAAAAAAACuo/EclPOsIo-0g/s400/IMG_9382.JPG"></a>
I'll even mail you some frags, my shout if you want as it's horrible to have something like that happen. I had a similar thing happened where big beutiful colonies RTNed for no explainable reason, it's horrible to see everything suddently so white. Shoot me a PM if you're not already inundated with offers of frags.
It'll be back to where it was though, and it really was amazing.
