Handed the tank over to my son today and the first thing he did was made me take him to the shop to buy a few corals.

Added a superman morph, tiny blasto, zoos and a tiny starfish.

A couple of updated pics below.

I love the looks of how it is on a single rock with no sand around. It has a great effect!

Thank you, It went through a few changes before i was happy with it and removing the sand has made it more manageable.

Small update for Feb so far.

All seems to be going well and the corals are settling in nicely. the temp is pretty stable at 25-26 deg thanks to a small 5 cm fan. Added another small morph today and did another 1.2 L water change.

Next small project is to build a small wooden airstone driven skimmer which i will hopefully start sometime next week.

Thanks guys, Below is what i feed / dose and when

Zeobak - 1 drop every 2-3 days
Water change 1.2L every 2-3 days :roflmao:
Small bag of purigen in the back compartment

I found feeding to be the hard part as it doesn't take much to throw everything out of whack with overfeeding. Lesson learn't from when i had a tiny layer of sand on the bottom, I would mix it up and a small chromus would die. I lost 2 that way and decided to remove the sand bed and rethink what and how i feed this 8L beast.

What i do now is take a tiny amount of food when i mix it up for my other tank.

I mix a spoon full of 100% reef safe aminos and 2 drops of sponge power in a small cup of tank water and take out 0.2ml with a syringe for this tank - Daily.

Also when feeding the fish on the other tank i mix up 1/2 a cube of ocean Nutrition Marine mix + 1/4 cube of cyclops + 1/4 cube of rotifiers in a small cup of tank water and take out 0.2ml for this tank - Daily.

This seems to be working for me and at the moment, I'm seeing no nuisance algae growth and the corals seem to be loving it. Plenty of lessons learn't along the way.

Thanks for the comments Guys!

Here are my end of March updates, Everything is growing nicely, I have cut about 80% of the Xenia back, The Zoa's have doubled in numbers and the Millepora has great polyp extension and is colouring up nicely.

The tank is pretty maintenance free and I have gone back to changing 1.2L every 3 days as there is zero algae growth and the nutrients on the 3rd day are still non existent.
