So i have been thinking about what to put in my sump and i think i would like to have a seahorse section in the tank.
In my head I'm thinking that i would have a few sections open not closed in so that they are view-able from the room.
Kinda like having mini tanks under the stand showing off the seahorses and a frag area, while the rest of the stand if covered.

Has anyone done something similar?

Cool Idea. I wanted to do the same with my sump for clowns and a nem.

I'm not experienced with them but I do know Seahorses like certain parameters. From memory high flow is an issue for them too and they don't like air bubbles.

Have a read of this article, will give you an idea on how to design that section. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/12/fish2

Seahorses deserve better than being in your sump.
There are lots of issues around why this is not a good idea but for one they like temps 1-2 degress lower than 26 degrees.

So i haven't posted for a while as i've been very busy with uni and trying to finalise building contracts.

The bad news is i am no closer to my tanks than i was when i first started my journal.
Our land was due to title in March but has been pushed back to April and since we are now half way through April and still havent heard anything i figure it probably wont title until May now.

the good news is the kitchen lenght hasnt changed so i now have a 4.1m wall to have my tank on. I was considering extending the width to 3 foot instead of 2.5 but im wondering how i would reach the back being that its only gonna be accessible from the front of the tank.

On a positive note, after having cherubs appointments and check up she is doing great, her hearts function is as good as it ever could be and we dont have to go back for another 6 months WOOHOO

WooHoo finally some movement at the station.

On Friday we received notice that land is registered and should be settled may 5th.

We went to the home show and habby has decided to get an rodi/ filter unit for the kitchen. and is willing to spend over $1000 on the set up because in his word "if we have to have it for your tank we might as well get filtered water to drink" LOL gotta love him.
So now just screwing around with what system to get, where and how to connect it, and most importantly ensure its gonna be good for the fish tank as well as drinking water.

We get building contracts on monday but have been advised that they have a 310 day building time frame, which put the keys being handed over around April next year, after giving them an extra month for getting soil samples and building plans approved.

Now i can really sense what its gonna be like having the tank.
I breifly measured out the length of the tank on my wall and realised just how big it will be.
It hasnt deterred me any but it will be a monster and definite statement piece.

im just wondering if there is any difference in the rodi units for tanks compared to the units for filtered drinking water. Honestly i haven'y really looked into but need to decide on whether or not to put a deposit down on a filtered drinking water system for my new house by tomorrow. I was told its a 7 stage rodi filtered water system that will remove all impurities that can be installed in my kitchen. Hubbys keen on filtered water and if it will fulfill both needs then its awesome. Better get off my bum and research something quickly

For a tank, the GPH is more of an issue.

7 stage is overkill and will just add to the running costs. 4 is plenty IMO

Well, i had an awesome day on Sunday.
I set of at midday to Williamstown aquarium for the first stop in the MASOV scavenger hunt.
I took my youngest boy whos 8 with me. We had a great time together and got to see a lot of places i wouldn't normally go or didnt even know they existed.

After all of the shops we ended up back at deerpark at 5pm right at the end of the BBQ.
Lucky for us we got invited to Ken and Jens place and spent a few hours chatting.
I cant believe how awesome that tank is is person. I am even move excited about getting my tank now than i have been before.

I need to get stuck into some serious research and work out exactly how im gonna make this tank and more importantly what equipment will be going in it.
best thing is my little man has been bitten by the bug :clownfish: and whats to get a tank of his own

So i had a great weekend and to top it off the best news today that Hubby should get his work bonus making life even better as it give me more money to spend sooner because his bonus will pay for the ovens for the house meaning tank purchases can be made sooner.

It's just the DI section that makes it no good for drinking. you can install a tee off the system just before the di resin cartridge and have a drinking spout.
