One of the admins just moved my thread into the TJ section. I guess this has become a journal :)

This looks great and it is good to see someone doing something different.
The hood from the other tank picture you posted looks like it came from a mould.
This would be difficult to replicate but i think the best way of having no exposed corners would be to make it from wood and then seal it with a thick exopy and 2pac paint.

On a slightly different concept, you could put the whole top glass on a slight angle with the back being the highest.
You wouldn't even notice 5deg or so but it would help the oils/protein ,top junk make it into the sump quicker.
Just a thought

Yes - it's still happening :)

I have the tank and stand quoted up and I'm still having difficulty in working out how to have the hood and chimney manufactured :(

I know it's been slow - apologise for that. I kind of got distracted at home for a bit. But focus has returned !

Hi,
Great thread, was planning something similar however always assume my cabinet to be smaller (shorter) than the tank, its great to see another perspective, it looks great. Was wondering if your concerned about the tank overhang from the elevated pedestal.?
There is a significant weight hanging over the edge. What size glass are you considering on the 5' tank. ?
To lessen the weight I am planning on a smaller height, I really like the look of floating tanks on a simplistic cabinet, kinda like a widescreen TV so the height is less important.

Still happening?

Such a good idea needs to become a reality, Evan if someone else steals it...
