Actually the newbie area and the classifieds are pretty much the only area I visit these days. I try to help where I can but sometimes it seems pointless when newbies are treated the way they sometimes are. I've actually lost count of the newbies turning up on the Reefuge after being disillusioned here. This sort of discussion doesn't exist there - because it doesn't need to.

The Reefuge had bumper stickers which said something like " The Reefuge - The other kind of reef forum". That says a lot for those like you, who are willing to take it on board and I wish you luck with it all.

Yet I genuinely believe that this site is generally superior in every aspect except for the old boys club mentality that gets displayed so often. Personally I've never noticed it by 'Tone' but I stayed away for ages because I got sick of tang police posts* (and I don't even keep tangs) and plain rude posts by Chromus and the king of the tang police, StripestheEel.

*Do a search here for Tang Police and 456 results come up. That can be argued to be a good thing but a read quickly reveals lots of bad too.

I'm not here to defend chromus or stripes or whoever else you want to put the root cause down to I want to see the place positive permanently and there is plenty of that still happens on here from what i see on a daily basis, maybe not as much 2-3 years ago im not sure, but you are over RTAW arent you? but keep putting the place down with negative comments and bringing up past posts several times in the last week which I directly said in my last post this is what needs to change and everyone needs to help, which you quoted so you must have read it. Thanks for the help!

Ok, i think we all have heard your thoughts and get the general idea on what the issue is.

How about we change focus and turn our thoughts and creativity on the future instead of dreaming of days gone bye.

I originally started this post to try and get more people in here, and those in here more active, kind of wish i hadnt and beginning to think of deleting this thread.

If you want to stay and help change things stay and offer help, join MASX and volunteer your services to help.

If you dont want to help and just point fingers and point out posts from the past and put the site down, well......leave

We need to encourage people to want to stay, not p[ush them away before they have started.

When i first came here, i posted same stupid questions, yeah i could of searched (and i agree the search is next to useless) but i was too lazy and wanted easy answers fast. i received plenty of short, to the point and sometimes blunt answers, but you knwo what, i am a big boy and took these for what they are really worth. [censored].

Most of the guys here were really helpfull and spent a great deal of time with me answering these stupid questions in depth, spent countless hours in the chjat forum asking them over and over again the same questions, and some of these members that gave short, to the point and sometimes blunt answers also spent many hours in the chat helping me. This is why i am still here.

i asked for things to be fixed, and got the same answer, " we are all so busy", " we just dont have the time or resources to do this". Guess what i did? i didnt sit here bitching and whinging about how crap the place is and how no one does anything, i joined my local MASQ, asked to be there MASA rep, joined the PCS team for MASA and yep, started to help out, only started this month, but it meant one of the other MASA members that was getting smashed with work could take a step back for a week or two while someone else helped keep this place going.

Mate were never all going to agree on everything, and the problem with forums is that you cannot see/hear or feel the emotion that someone is trying to portray in theior post, what is meant as a joke by one, is taken as a direct threat by someone else, its just the way it is. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and say does it really matter? How can we make this place better? like i said earlier if you dont like the place, and dont want to help, dont keep coming here.

Please feel free to delete this post and entire thread as im over it, this one thread that i stupidly started has done more to push me away from this site than any of the comments any one ever made to post i made as a beginner.
