White Algae

Post by Dazzamx »

Hey
Just after some input.
In the last fortnight my live rock has been growing this white slime looking algae. All my water parameters are fine and only have one fish in the tank.
I have had a quick look into it and it looks like it's more of a bacterial Bloom rather than algae bloom. They say it can be caused by aerosol, air fresheners And so on that are used in the house.
Has any one else had this happen to their tanks before? And if so how did they fix it.
There is a Dr Tims product they recommend that will clear it up called Waste Away.
Would love too know if anyone has used this product and if it worked, Or if they can recommend another way of dealing with this snot looking crap in my tank.
Cheers

A picture would help rule out the other options such as a sponge. Generally bio films are the preferred food of many reef inhabitants, such as snails. While people recommend them for algae, my tropical abalone is an absolute trooper at keeping it under control.

My iPad won't allow me to post a photo. Not sure why.
I can email one to you.

Yup, without photos it makes it very hard. Here is a thread containing a few options for you?
