collection failed ????

went up the coast today and got some things for the tanks I also took a few blennies.and couple other fish
by the time I got home they were dead and shrimp snails and so on lived this is my first time out collecting and want to go again
any ideas what happened??
and how can I keep em live don't want It to happen again

Separate things. I once had a feeling that a snail released a toxin when stressed which killed the fish

salt water fish in a bucket without aerator will die pretty quickly.

Go to an aquarium store and buy some fish bags (usually 5-10 cents each and some rubber bands) and some polystyrene boxes (from the fish store too) Seperate everything into bags,one item per bag and keep them cool.
After all, how do you think yellow tangs are sold in Australia. (hint, they are only found in Hawaii)
