What is it supposed to do?

Provide a set of 3 calibrated comparison fluids to confirm the accuracy of testing kits and equipment.

(no dispite the name it can't tell you if your tank has any social diseases :spit: )

So What comes in the box?

Syringes, tips, test vial, instruction sheet, gloves and 3 Calibrated comparison fluids for Calcium/Magnesium, Alkalinity, Chlorinity

How do you work this thing?

For the purpose of testing I had 4 seperate samples, 3 from working tanks and 1 from the Coral-shop STD1 comparison pack.

This allowed me to road test the Ca/Mg/Alk/Chl test kits at the same time as trying this calibration pack.

Why should I buy it?

This kit is clearly not aimed at beginner aquarists, they would simply have no need for it. Where this kit comes into its own is

for reefers who are working on obtaining those perfect parameters for their setups. Allowing them to ensure their test kits are accurate and that they are using them correctly.

Ca/Mg calibration fluid
Measured Ca 425mg/l
calibrated to Ca 420mg/l

Measured Mg 1245mg/l
calibrated to Mg 1245mg/l

Alk calibration fluid
Measured 7.1dkH
calibrated to 7.0dkH

Chlorinity calibration fluid
Measured 18.75g/l
calibrated to 18.7g/l

Allowing for a degree of user error in using these Coral-shop kits for the first time comes in as satisfyingly close to the calibrated readings.

What's it like to use

Apart from the minor issue with the instruction sheet which will be addressed very soon, there really isn't anything to fault with this pack. The same high quality of the included equipment is a feature of Coral-shop.

Final Opinion

Would I buy it, yes.

The idea of being able to confirm the accuracy of testing equipment means that this kit is an excellent idea, it can be used not only with Coral-shop kits, but with any other brand of test kit and even with electronic equipement like Hanna eggs.
